Ashleigh will be 17 in 12 days. I am not ready for the next year when she will be 18. There are lots of things I have to have done before then. 3 months before Ashleigh turns 18, I have to apply for disability for her as an adult. I was in social security asking questions yesterday.
I have a lot of items to do for transition for Ashleigh. We need to decide what to do after high school, but first we have to learn what is out there. In order to do that, we are having an organization come into our home and meet with Ash & I.
I am worried how Ashleigh will handle the next year. Will she realize that she should be graduating next June? How will she feel if she does realize? How will I feel next June?
I am not sure where to stop. There is so much to get done. Shawn and I also have to decide if we need to get a guardianship of Ashleigh. I need to write down everything we need to do and that includes Ashleigh. With her being almost 18, she needs to know things about her own health. Ash needs to advocate for herself.
