A week ago I decided to do somethings for just me. To find that creative side I once had. I have been working on some projects. Some maybe more creative than others, but I am having fun! That is all that matters.
I started with putting up the older 2 school pictures. Normally in the past the school pictures were 8x11, but this school year we decided to do 8x10. I received 8x10 picture frames, but they were for the end tables. I brought the back part that the nail hangs from at Lowe's. I put a nail at the bottom of it so the glass would stay in. Then, hung them on the wall. I did not have an 8x10 of my youngest, Ethan, so I made a collage of some of my favorite pictures in Smilebox. If you have not heard of Smilebox, you need to go check them out. I love them!! I have made some nice collages. I made one for my mother in law. My husband & I brought them beautiful frame from Michael's. Now to just find the time to get over there to give it to her. I know she will love it. It is of all her kids minus 2, but 1 of them came home from Germany. He is stationed there. I am working on one for the grandkids for her, too.
My one project was taking wood rectangle and painted them each a different color. Yellow, Tan, & a shade of red. Ash for yellow, Noah for tan, & Ethan for the shade of red. I picked out a favorite picture of the kids alone. Then, used mod podged to put them on the painted wood. Mod podge was then used on top of the pictures to seal them. Pictures to come. These went to the right of the school pictures. Next to the school pictures is my "G" & below the "G" is the collage frame of Ethan. The "G" is another project of my. It is just like the rectangle wood, but I used a lot of pictures of us & mod podge. To the right of that is a frame with our wedding invitation & under that is our wedding picture. I love this wall!!! =) I am not going to show pictures of the Yellow, Tan, & Red rectangle wood pictures.
Since Noah loved the "G", he wanted a "N" of just pictures of him on it. So, off we went to Michaels. We brought the white large ones. We also got an "E" & an "A". Noah picked out metallic blue, Ethan got cherry red, and Ash got purple. So, I have those all painted and ready to go. I am still going through our pictures so pick out my favorites, but I also have some nice pics on my new camera (Canon Rebel T1i). I will print them out once I get those pics downloaded onto the desktop. These letters will go in their rooms. I will show the pictures of the "N", "A", & "E" once I have those done. I am no where done with those. I am thinking of making a "K" for my parents.
The last project is the coat rack for the kids. It is wood, but I wanted color. It is in this area I call the "Communication Hub" because we have our dry erase calendar above it on the right with a square blue dry erase board on top of that. To the left of the square blue dry erase board I have a square cork board and below it there is another dry erase board, but with 3 columns: A blank one, To do list, and This week. I painted it white first. Then, with the metallic blue paint I painted the outside of it to the part of the wood that goes in some. Then, I cut scrapbook paper to fit around the hooks and used mod podge. It looks great especially with the square blue dry erase board. Noah said to use the metallic blue & I am so glad I listened!
New photos coming.
New photos coming.
These projects happened over days with many breaks. Today I worked on the 3 wood rectangles & I am feeling the pain in my lower back. Now for my new project, I can't wait. We are going to take magnetic paint and do many many coats of it on this one wall in our kitchen. Then, take chalkboard paint over top of it. We need to take chalk on the side once it is dried for so many days to condition it.
Night.
