We will never forget

Where were you 17 years ago?

I was home with my one year old. My neighbor called and woke me up by saying put the tv on now. My mom was calling me freaking out to know where I was. I was commuting to the University of Pittsburgh at that time. She was afraid of an attack at Pitt. But I didn’t have classes that day so Ashleigh and I were hanging out at home.  It’s hard to believe it’s been 17 years. My sons are 14 and 9. Today I’m stuck in the town I grew up in waiting on my van getting brakes down. Thinking about my time here as a child and as an adult raising my children not far from here. It was simpler back then.  Not having to worry about anything like this.

I can remember trying to explain this day to Noah. It was the year a teacher talked about it. I think it was due to the 10th Anniversary. Noah came home and asked me questions. We live in a different world than before 9-11.

God Bless,

Melissa
