Happy Celiac Disease Awareness Month!! (Part 2)

Happy Celiac Disease Awareness Month!!

The first post was about what is Celiac Disease and little bit about when I was diagnosed and when Ethan was diagnosed with Gluten Intolerance.  Now I want to talk about where I buy our favorite Gluten Free items.

I wish there was one store I could go get everything I needed for our GF items, but there is none!!  Ethan has his favorites and I try to get those in stock.
1. Granola bars
-The KIND bars from Walmart
2. Chicken nuggets
-Aldi's
3. Wafers (Hazelnut)
-From Walmart
4. Chocolate and Yogurt covered Pretzels
-Aldi's
5. Bread
- I love the multigrain from a local grocery store, but Ethan hates it.  He will only eat Aldi's white bread.
6. Pasta
-Either at Walmart or Aldis.  Since before Ethan was diagnosed, gluten pasta made him very sick so we have to name items to get him to eat them.  I had Ethan made his own pasta dish and it is called "Ethan's pasta".  It has his favorite pasta from Aldi's, sauce, shredded cheese, and Parmesan cheese.  We mix it all up together while we warm it a little bit to melt the cheese.
7. Cakes
For cakes I make, I get the cake mixes from Aldi's or from Walmart.  We love the Pillsbury Funfetti GF cake and cupcake mix and their GF Devil's Food Cake Mix.  I have not made a cake from scratch yet.

Ethan is pickier than I am.  I think it has to do with the time he remembers being so sick.  He still thinks at times that food could make him sick again.  We tell him that gluten free foods are safe for him and me.  I have to buy foods I know he will love.  Anytime there is a new item I wait until Ethan is with me to see if he wants to try it.

The thing Ethan and I want more than anything is....
For Aldi's to carry all of their special buys every day, which will be Part 3.
