I was to have a friend help me clean up our laundry room/basement area, but with what has happened, we postponed it. I told her that I would start on it, which I did a few weeks ago.
I drew this photo to help you understand our basement. This is only half of our basement. The other area is my art studio & a room in the back, which will eventually be cleaned out, too.
Our basement is split into different areas.
-Laundry area
*The washer & dryer are in a corner.
*I have a hanging rack to hold our clean clothes once I wash/dry them & hang them up. Each of us is responsible to get our own clothes.
*I have those carpet squares in this area. I brought them from Dollar Tree. I have 9 of them. These carpet squares help this area become its own area.
*I have a chair where I place a basket with clean clothes so I can fold them on the 2 totes.
-Black shelving units
*I have 2 areas of these black shelving units. I have 2 shelving units next to one another for supplies like antibacterial wipes, paper plates, extra laundry detergent, extra fabric softener. On the top shelves of both of them, Shawn has his folding clothes in a basket and so does Noah. Ethan has a shelf under Noah's.
*The other 3 black shelving units are for my art studio since I can not fit everything in it. The shelving unit on the left is games. Just games. The other 2 have art supplies. I also have paper towels in a wooden shelving unit (not on my drawing) & the black shelving unit on the far right.
*These black shelving units I brought from Aldi's for $12.99 each if I am remembering correctly. It was a few summers ago. I brought 6 during that time.
I started cleaning up this one pile of items near the air hockey table. I have empty boxes and I filled about 3 of them. They are small boxes. I have a box for items that belong in that back room. My plan is to organize all the tools and items like that belong there. Like the sanders, extension cords, etc. It seems like people will take an item, but never put it back where it belongs. When someone goes looking for it, they can't find it. I had wood in this area, too, so I moved it to the art studio where I plan to store it somewhere in there. The air hockey table is now cleaned.
I still have a little more cleaning to do in this area before I move onto the art studio area. With all of the wood in the art studio, I need to find somewhere to put it all.
