5 Random Things about Ashleigh

I am taking a break from writing the background blog post about Ashleigh & I thought I would do this one.  =)

1. Ashleigh is a fighter.
She does not allow anything to stop her.  When Ashleigh hurts, she lies or sits down until she can do something.

2.  Ashleigh can put a smile on your face.
She is the one that will say "Hello" to everyone in the hallway at school even if she does not know you.

3. Ashleigh has had 9 MRI's plus she is getting 1 (brain this time not spine) on December 28th so that will make 10 if I counted right. She is only 12.  Her MRI's started when she was 18 months old.  Ash gets them on her Brain & Spine.  Mostly they are every 2 years now.

4.  Ashleigh loves to draw, color, paint, & do any kind of crafts.  When Ash is upset, this is what we have her turn to so she can calm down.

5. Ashleigh has not been dealing well with her disease (Spastic Paraparesis also known as HSP), her depression, not being able to do what her brothers can do.  Her behavior has gotten pretty bad.  We do have therapists in our home.  Well, we will.  We had insurance issues from beginning of November to now.  We are finally getting to do the intake paperwork with the new provider company after waiting 2 weeks for the approval from the state.  I do not understand why it takes TWO weeks to get approval.  Come on, they had enough documents to show that Ashleigh needed this & to start over since we lost from November to now.  It does not take that much to see all of this.

I am going to have to get Ashleigh to do her 5 Random Things about herself.  She is at school.  I hope it is a good day.  I am picking Ash & Noah up for her first PT session.  She is going back to PT.  We get to see her old Physical Therapist Kelly, who we have not seen in a long time since the insurance said Ash was not improving.  Ash has lost flexibility in her legs, which is not good.  I think that is the word-flexibility, but maybe that is not it.  I will be taking notes when I am there.  I have a notebook for Ashleigh that I take to her appointments plus I write when she is having a bad day, when she is in pain, etc.  I do this for all the kids.  It is easier for me when they go to the doctors.

Have a great day!
Melissa
