Remembering today is hard. Reading all the posts on Facebook is also hard, but we need to remember. We need to never forget what happened this day 13 years ago.
I looked at my post from last year. I did not tell you where I was. How can we ever forget where we were this day all those years ago? I was at home with Ashleigh. I was attending an university an hour South of us. I commuted each day I had classes into a busy big city. This day I did not have classes. I was home in bed. Ashleigh was sleeping, too. My neighbor called me asking me if I saw the news and she told me what happened. I remember my mom calling me asking where I was. She was grateful and happy that I was home. She was worried that the big city I travel to 3 times a week for classes would be hit, too. My mom was worried about my brother, Matthew. He was to be in the Twin Towers for a job fair, but he was running late.
I remember fear in those days following September 11. Fear that the terrorists were not done. Fear that they would not get caught. Fear for my daughter. Fear for my husband. Fear for my family. I decided that I could not allow fear to win.
We need to remember those who died 13 years ago. We also need to remember the heros, who helped.
God Bless
