Ashleigh and Autism Part 1

Ashleigh has Autism.  She was diagnosed in March 2013.  Ashleigh was 12 at that time.  We knew something was up by how she was acting.  For example, Ashleigh was not acting like she was 12, but an age younger than her.  Loud noises freaked her out where she would go into this fit that we had to calm her down.

When Ashleigh is upset, she does not tell us, but she writes it down.  Then, Ashleigh will give it to me and I read it.  I wait a little bit so she can calm down before I go to her and we talk about her note.

When Ashleigh is overwhelmed, she does not write a note, but cries really really loud or really softly.  For the last 2 weeks, our street has been getting dug up and pipes replaced.  I don't think they will make the 3 week deadline.  I think it will be closer to 4 weeks.  Ashleigh did really well when the work was done at our end of our street.  It was so loud.  The worst part was when the kids were back in school.  They were in front of our house.  Now they are towards the end of the street.  Not sure where.  When Ashleigh was home and the noise was bad, we had her play music on her tv.  It worked to drown out the noise.
