Computer!

We brought another desktop that is wireless.  I loved this!

For these reasons:
1.  Our oldest could have our old desktop.  It still worked.  We just wanted something newer.
2.  We had the monitor.
3.  Ashleigh's new flat screen tv can be a monitor.

A few things I learned after we did this:

1. When you had a new laptop or desktop to your wireless network, always go into the wireless website for your router & update it.  I renamed ours.  Each time I do I keep the name the same, but + 1 to the number.  Right now we have a 5 on the end. Always password PROTECT it!!  Very very important!

2. If you put in a new wireless desktop, you could get conflicting ip addresses.  Not good.  In having this, the wireless network is confused.  If you have a conflicting ip address, try this:

3. In one of my many calls to our internet provider, I learned about Wifi Analyzer.  This tells you a lot of information, but the information I was mostly wanted was 1 thing: Wireless channels!  Yes, channels.  My neighbors all have wireless networks, too.  I found out through both of the programs I am using
(Another Wifi Analyzer) that 3 of them were using the same channel on me.  During my last call to my internet provider, I asked how I can change my channel.  He said to go into the website for my router & look for wireless channel.  For my, it was under wireless if I am remembering correctly.  I also think it just said channel.  He suggested I change our channel to 9.  I had 1, 2, 6, & 11.  I am hoping that 9 is our channel for us.

I learned all of this by asking questions to our internet provider.  Except for how to password protect our wireless network.  I searched for our router & found a tutorial to be able to do it on my own instead of paying someone else to do it.

I hope this was helpful.  I just hope this works & no more getting kicked off of our wireless network.

  1. Hi Melissa....just found your comment on my blog! The drs haven't said whether Brendan could have another reaction to boosters in the future. As long as his breathing wasn't compromised...I will most likely go ahead with any other scheduled vaccines....except Pertussis. Meds are so scary!!!

Nice to meet you and I look forward to reading your blog!!!
