Summer Plans

School left out for Ashleigh & Noah on June 9th. A little later than we are used to. It is normally closer to Ashleigh's birthday (June 4th). Too many snow days plus the kids started later than normal.

Have you ever made plans for the summer, but did not do everything you wanted to.  Let's see if we do!

Here are our plans for this summer:

                1. Science Center: We did this on 2 Mondays ago & plan to do this more since we have a membership. I love memberships!! We are going back in July with some friends & their kids.  I can not wait!!  I need to get onto their site & learn more about what they offer.

2. Museum of Natural of History: It is part of that membership. I can not wait for the kids to go here. They have not been.  It has been many many years since I have been there.  When I was in college, I had to do a scavenger hunt that was in a geology class.  It was a lot of fun!

3. Aviary: We are going there with Shawn next month. They are having Radio Disney there. We have only seen Radio Disney at the zoo, but never at the Aviary. I have never seen any special events here. We were here in May. Yes, a membership we have! It was last year's Easter gift to the kids. We need to renew it.  We brought the family membership since the boys love penguins & the Aviary has a lot of penguins.  We go there to see the Bald Eagles, too.

4. Zoo: We can not wait to see the Tiger cubs & the African Painted Pups (I hope I have their name right). We do have a membership here, too, but it has been a gift from 2 great friends. Thanks so much guys!  We were there this week!  The tiger cubs are getting so big & so are the African Painted Pups.

5. Movie: I know there are several out in the theaters now, but my gang wants to go see Mr Popper's Penguin.  I would like to do this, but not sure when. The next couple weeks are fill with appointments on Shawn's days off.   Noah wants to see this movie badly.  If you ask Ethan want movie he wants to see, either the Penguin one or the Pooh one, he says Penguin movie.  My boys love penguins! (I hate to say this, but I don't want to see the Pooh movie.  Ash was crazy for Pooh so maybe I am need something besides Pooh!)

I love this movie trailer with the penguins dancing with Jim Carrey.  So cute how the one falls over!

This movie is based on a book by Richard  Atwater & Florence Atwater.  This book has won a Newbery award in 1939.  We got this book for Noah, but the cover is the movie cover.  Not the original cover.  Noah wanted to see the penguins on the cover in color.  Noah took this book to school & read to his class.  My little reader!

6. Phipps Conservatory : Maybe this summer or next. We have not been here, but it is something new to do.

7. Annual Regatta- Ash & I went last year to just the setting up of the hot air balloons. We want to see more this year.  I can not wait for their schedule to get up onto their site so we can plan what we will see & do.

8. Paint, crafts, clay, etc as much as we can.
Ladybugs- Maybe make these ones or this other craft I found where you paint ladybugs on flat rocks for your garden!  I just need flat rocks.
4th of July craft
Garden Stepping Stones- I got these at this store by us called Five Below, but I found a site on how to make them.  Click here.

9. Walks, play soccer, go to the playground, go to the lake as much as we can.

10. Get organize for fall!  Very important to me since a lot of changes are coming (new schools, new times to get up for school, etc).  Reorganizing the kitchen, living & dining rooms, file cabinet/printer area,  & get the art wall done.  I started using the Wonderfile for their important papers.  I have 2 Wonderfiles.  One for bills (black) & one for important school papers (red).  This way I know where those papers are & I am not searching my house for them.

11. Summer Pontoon Cruise.  I had this planned for the 4th of July, but Shawn has to work.  So, not sure if we will get to do this soon.  If not summer, then in the fall when the leaves are changing!

12. To be added at a later date.

We are not traveling this summer like we did last year.  We decided to use the resources in our area this summer.  I think we may do everything on this list, but we will see at the end of summer.

I hope everyone has a wonderful safe fun summer! Don't forget to apply your sunscreen every 2 hours!!
