Pumpkins!

I wanted to share this Clay Ornament Recipe.  I have used this recipe for 3D items like pumpkins.  I still have them, too.  I think we made them about 3 years ago.    The stem I rolled & pushed down to make it more stem like. I used a knife to get the pumpkin to look like a pumpkin! lol. We painted them.  I want to do this for Easter Eggs & snowman!!  I am sure we will come up with something else like penguins!!!

Here is the recipe I use:

CLAY ORNAMENTS

4 c. all-purpose flour

1 c. salt

1 1/2 c. cold water

Christmas cookie cutters

Shellac

Ribbons for hangers

Mix flour and salt together.
Slowly add water while stirring with a fork until soft dough forms.
Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, adding a small amount of water or flour, if needed.
Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut with cookie cutters.
Place ornaments 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Punch "hanging holes" with a drinking straw.
Bake in a preheated 300 degree oven for 30 to 45 minutes.
Baking time will vary with size of ornaments.
When completely cool, you may paint ornaments with Tempra paints or leave natural.
Coat with shellac.
Note: Dough will keep indefinitely if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Any plans for Halloween?  Noah & I plan to make more of these pumpkins.  I will share pictures of Noah making these.

Melissa

P.S. I want to see what you make.  Add a link in the comments.  I will add what Noah & I make later in the coming weeks.  I need to make it through the next couple weeks.
