A Day in the Life: Part 1

I have been thinking about this for awhile now.  Every day is different here.  It just depends on the day/week what we have going on and if Soccer season is going on or not.  If Ashleigh is doing her camp or not, or if she is doing her other program.

Where to begin?
Since we moved, our routines that we were used to have definitely changed.   We try to keep to the schedule as much as possible.  Ashleigh does not do well with change.  We prepare her for change that we know of.  We are not completely unpacked yet.  We are getting there.  We are getting rid of items, too.  Items to Good Will, books to our old library, old cds to Ash's horse camp for them to make crafts out of them, & 2 boxes for our old neighbor. I have more to go through, too.  Any way....

If it is Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday mornings, Shawn gets the kids up & gets them to school.  Ash rides the bus, but for Noah, we drop him off at school.  Shawn wants me to sleep in.  When I have appointments or if the kids need something at school, I get up. Some mornings I am up just because I am up.  Zeus wants out or the puppy, Bolt, needs out.

If it is Thursday or Friday, I am on my own.  I get the kids up & out the door for school.  Shawn is daylight those 2 days.  These 2 days can be crazy for us.  Noah & Ashleigh don't always want to get up for me.  I now get Noah up & to the bathroom with his clothes to get dressed.   This way he does not fall back asleep.  For Ashleigh, I keep asking her if she is dressed when I am in the bathroom getting ready.   Last week we were running behind.  It was crazy!

I would love to be more organized like we were before we moved!  Add in Zeus.  Add in Noah's new puppy, Bolt (he loves him so much!)  Once I am done getting dressed, I take Noah's puppy downstairs with me while he gets dressed & I take both of dogs gets left outside.

Once the kids are downstairs, they have to get their shoes on, eat their breakfast, & get their lunch boxes in their backpacks.  I am telling Noah to stop laying around when he should be putting his lunch bag in his book bag & his shoes on.  This is why we start doing shoes before breakfast since we have 1 least thing to do after breakfast.  We make the kids put their try on the shoe tray, but sometimes this does not happen or a little boy hides them somewhere.  I won't tell you who!

Like one morning:
Ethan has to have clean clothes on, clean pull up, & his shoes on, but we can't find his shoes!  I am trying to find Ethan's shoes.  Finding Zeus.  Telling Ashleigh to get her shoes on, put her lunch bag in her book bag.  Did I tell you who takes the lunch bags to their book bags after I make their lunches?  Ethan because I am busy doing something else for the morning before we leave.

I leave Zeus & Bolt out before I take the kids up to the van to leave.  Then, I have to put Zeus in his crate.  I have to keep Zeus on his leash because if I don't, he is off & hiding.  Zeus was diagnosed with separation anxiety a few weeks ago (another post on this).   It is hide n seek then.  So much fun.  Bolt goes into his area.  Finally, I have Zeus in his crate.  Ashleigh's bus is here.  "Ash, hurry!"  I get the boys out the door, up the steps to the van, & wait for Ash's bus to back up so I can take Noah to school.  I don't think I could get him to his bus stop on time with how close Ash's bus stop is.  Ash is on a mini bus because of her disability & will not ride his bus at all.  Off to the school we go.  Ethan says "Mommy, do you have my penguin?"  I say, "Yes, but I am driving."  Ethan cries!  Noah is dropped off to his school.  Sometimes Zeus comes with us.  Zeus loves taking Noah to school.  Sometimes (Most of the times) Bolt comes with us.  Bolt loves to drop Noah off at school & get him from the bus stop.  Even though Thursdays & Fridays are so crazy, I would not change a thing.  One day I will be looking back thinking "Boy, I miss those days!"

I do have one of Ashleigh's therapists here with us Monday-Friday so it is a little easier.  There is still craziness on the days I am here on my own.  Her therapist is here to help Ashleigh do things on her own.  Like comb her hair, not to look like she crawled out of bed.  I don't have to keep saying "Ash, did you put on deodorant? Ash, did you comb your hair?  Ash, Did you put on a belt?"  Every day the same questions several times.  We are trying to get her ready for the Junior High.  She does not get what it will be like.  We are trying to help her.

I am enjoying my time with Ethan on my own.  It reminds me what I had with the older 2.  When I get back, I feed me & Ethan breakfast.

During the week, I work on things around the house.  I have been slow at it since my falls last winter.  I fell down the steps outside twice.  My legs & back are not liking me very much.  Shawn helps me a lot.  I am working on getting rid of the boxes!!  I hate boxes.  I have a friend that comes in & helps me.  I have to work on the basement.  The rest of the house is pretty good.

During soccer season, Noah has practice on one night a week & his games are Saturday mornings.  It starts at the end of March to the end of June (I think).  This is late August to end of October.

After school, Ashleigh & Noah unpack their lunch bags & gives me their papers.  I make sure I keep anything important.  The rest goes into a pile, which I go through after awhile & those papers go to Ashleigh's camp.  It is a fundraiser of theirs.  Ash & Noah puts their lunch bags & their backbags where we keep them.

On Wednesdays, Thursdays, Ashleigh has her one therapists, the TSS, here, but she is also here in the morning for an hour Monday-Friday.  It is to help Ashleigh get ready for school.  This just started Tuesday. The BSC is here Wednesdays or Thursdays.  She is the one in charge of the therapists. The MT is here on Tuesdays.  We have the TSS here for 10 hours, the BSC here 1-3 hours, & the MT here 2 hours.

Each week, we do a movie night & a reading night.  When we are moved into our new home, I want to have a game night among other nights.  We will have a playroom/tv room for the kids in the basement.  I was thinking of having movie nights in different spots other than the living room.  This area is still not completely done yet.  I have unpacked more & I still have more to put away.

This does not include all our appointments. Some weeks are crazier then others.

I yell at our husky, Zeus, to stay out of the bathroom at least 2 times a day.  This all depends if someone leaves the bathroom door open.  He loves drinking toilet water.   Yuck!  This has improved, too!

There are many times during the week when Ashleigh is getting into trouble for something.  The items Ashleigh does I need another blog post to type them up.  I am serious.  This is long enough.  If I add what she has done lately, I would have this doubled .

Zeus is getting along with Bolt a lot better.  They play together.  It is so cute to watch.  Bolt is so damn cute.  I am off to bed.  It is after 5a here.  Bolt was crying & I took him outside.  He is asleep on my lap.  He still smells like puppy.  I had most of this saved from before.  I added a little here & there.

Thanks for reading.
Melissa
