"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss
I love when it is Dr Seuss's birthday, which is March 2. Dr Seuss's Birthday has been adopted as the Read Across America Day & is "the largest reading event in our nation"(link). A little background about Dr Seuss is that he was born with the name of Theodor Seuss Geisel in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr Seuss wrote And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, which came from his hometown & less than a mile from his childhood home on Fairfield Street. This book was rejected 27 times. He went to a College in Oxford to get his Doctorate, but he got married to his wife in 1927 & returned to the US without getting his degree. He wrote Horton Hatches the Egg in 1940 before the US entered World War II. After the war, Dr Seuss wrote Horton Hears a Who, The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, & Green Eggs & Ham to name a few. Dr Seuss died of throat cancer on September 24, 1991.
When Noah was in Kindergarten, the parents were invited to read to his class. Noah wanted me to do it so I signed up. I will never forget that day. I read "Where is Home, Little Pip?" In the kids' old school, they would celebrate the entire week with different thing. Each day they wore something different. Not sure what the kids' new school will do. I will update later today at the bottom of the post.
Some of these coloring pages in honor of Dr Seuss are from this site.
(this one is also on the first link I posted)
What is your favorite Dr Seuss book? Ashleigh's Dr Seuss' book is Cat in the Hat. Noah isn't sure what his favorite Dr Seuss book is. Ethan's favorite Dr Seuss' book is any of them that we read to him!
“Be awesome! Be a book nut!”

We will read some Dr Seuss books not only on March 2, but also on our weekly Reading Night (Wednesday). What will you be reading to your child on March 2? Keep Reading!
