Moving Checklists

I hope you like my new header.  I did it Thursday, but forgot to mention it last time couple times.

I was looking for blogs on moving for tips.  I found this site.  I love this idea: (Sept 30, 2011)  We do plan to have several different nights that will be Family Game nights or Movie Nights, but I am moving it around in the new house.  It could be in the basement's kid's room, or the one of the kid's room or the living room or even our room!!

Plan a family ‘camp out’ in the new house in the middle of the living room on the first night. Pitch a tent, bring flashlights and good eats (roast marshmallows and make s’mores if the microwave/toaster oven is handy) and bond as a family over games and stories and plans for the new place.

I am looking forward more & more to moving.  I am working on packing every day.  I have more of a motivation to get out of here more than ever.  I have this worry feeling for my kids.  I have never had that before here.

I have been trying to find some moving organization tips & I found some.  I am sharing 2 of my favorite checklists.

 Checklist #1.

  • Contact schools, doctors, and dentists to transfer your records to the new location and to get referrals from them as appropriate
I still need to get the paper work to the new school.  I am almost done with it.  I need a couple more things added to it.  I also need to drop off the medication form to the pediatrician for Noah's inhaler.  I already filled out the paper to get the kids' school transfer.  I need to do this.

  • Begin packing suitcases to have all necessary items really handy (some clothes and toiletries).
The night before or maybe 2 nights before.

  • Fill out a change of address form with the U.S. Postal Service (don’t wait until the last minute or mail you need won’t be at your new home).
I still need to do this.
  • Make sure that friends, families, neighbors, and employers all have your new address.
I still need to do this, too.  I was thinking of adding a note in our Christmas cards, but decided to make a "We have Moved" card.
  • Notify your insurance and credit card companies of your change of address.

I need to do this & also turn off cable, electric, & gas.

Checklist #2.
1. Boxes- I get them from our local grocery stores.  Check yours if you are moving.  They are a great place to get them for free.

2. Rent a truck- We have been taking a lot over to the house in our van.  5 trips so far.

3. Refrigerator & Freeze- I need to amount in ours down.

4. Pictures, shelves, etc.- I already packed all of our pictures.

5. TVs, etc will be taken apart a few days, but our 1 tv.

6. We have help with moving.

7.  Truck early- I don't think this will be a problem since it is the day after Christmas.

8. We packed our pictures, etc with packing paper.

9. Tarps? The truck is closed.  Don't get this.

10.  Keep a sense of humor!  I like this.

Those of you that are moving I wish you the best of luck moving!!  I hope you all enjoy your new homes as much as we will of our new home.  I am so looking forward to being in a house.  A HOUSE!!!!  WOO HOO!!!

Until Next Time,
Melissa
