Reading Challenge

Ethan picked out these 2 books for tonight's Reading Night for the Cupcake War Reading Challenge. (See Cupcake War Reading Challenge Review #1).  Don't ask my why he picked out a Halloween book in the middle of January!  Ethan said he loves the cat.

The first book we read is Happy Halloween, Mittens (My First I Can Read) by Lola Schaefer.  Noah read this book to us.

This is a very cute story about a Kitten named Mittens, who wants to help.  Everything that Nick is doing Mittens is helping, too, but she is getting in his way.  At the end of the story, Mittens is batting at the Ghost & made it better.  This is a cute story that every almost 3 year would love.

When we were done with this book, we talked about how Mittens was trying to help, but instead was making messes.  What should Mittens done instead?  Mittens reminds me of my kids at times.  Not them helping, but the making of messes!  Typical kids making messes!

The second book we read was Animals at Home: The Penguin

I did find link for this book, but there is no information about this book.  Just that you can buy it through Amazon.  There is no cover for it, too.  I think it was because this book was published in 1969 & it was printed in Great Britain & translated to English.  It was also printed in Belgium.  I did find out this author also wrote a book about mouse and another book about beaver, but I could not find this book.  We got this book at our library's book sale, which is their way to raise money so they can add books to their book shelves.

This book has a lot of information about penguins.  It is about a white penguin who is different than the others.  No one wanted to be his friend.  Just because this penguin was white was not a reason not to be his friend.  Noah said that he would had been his friend.  That made me smile.  By the end of the book, this white penguin had made a friend!

Noah does not like it when a penguin is eaten by a big bird of some kind.  We know it happens in nature, but it is sad.  This book no penguins were eaten by any birds!!

Our January has been very busy.  We have 4 done so far.  Not bad.  We have been unpacking, had an ER visit, a lip that was cut open, doctor appointments, etc.  Last week's Reading Night was postponed because Ethan locked himself in his room & I did not have the key to get into it. He would not unlock it.  I think it was because he did not know how.  I had to call the non-emergency line with our Fire Department, who came & got Ethan out.  Ethan was sleeping on his bed all cute!  Look up, then went back to bed.  That famous lock is now downstairs in the kitchen.  I need to go get him a new door knob!

We still have time to read more for this month!  We haven't read anymore of the 39 Clues book, but we want to.
