Day 11: Reading

I love reading.  In 2011, I started the reading challenge on Goodreads.  Each year I like to read more than I did the year before.  I think I have done extremely well this year over last year's amount of books.  I wonder what 2015 will hold with the number of books I read.

2011- 33 books.
2012- 54 books
2013- 68 books
2014- so far 97 books

Reading is what I look forward to.  Each book I read takes me somewhere else.   A small town, who loves to help each other.  A group of friends looking out for one another.  Somewhere a lot happier than where I am.  I am not saying that I am not happy.  I am saying that it helps me forget that Ashleigh is losing her ability to walk.

I finished this series was The Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel this year by Jennifer Bernard.  I love how the author wrote about Firemen.  Can you imagine your grandmother winning a Bachelor auction for you?  Melissa and Brody became a favorite of my from the start.  I also fell in love with Melissa's grandmother.  I still need to read The Night Belongs to a Fireman (#6) and It's a Wonderful Firemam (#7).

The second new series I read this year was Virgin River Series by Robyn Carr.  I love the town, the people, and the newcomers that come to town, but never leave (well, some do leave).  My favorite couple is Jack and Melinda.  I love how she came to Virgin River to get away from her past, not looking to fall in love, and ended up finding a whole new life for herself.  Another couple I love is Vanessa and Paul.  It is so sad that Vanessa lost her husband, Matt, but Paul was always there for her.

I have wanted to read the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis and I am in book #10, Once in a Lifetime.  I still have He's So Fine (#11) and One in a Million (#12) to read.  Can you imagine coming to a town that everyone knows everything about each other?  This series started with 3 sisters, who barely know each other coming together because they lost their mother and they inherited a Bed and Breakfast.

I fell in love with the Piper Anderson series by Danielle Stewart.  This was a new author I started reading because her first book, Chasing Justice, was free on Amazon at the time.  I was hooked before I was done with the first chapter.  I fell in love with Piper, who wants a normal life, but things keep getting in the way of that.  Betty is a wonderful character that everyone goes to when they need some help.

Have you read any series this year?  Read any books this year that you love?  I plan to do a blog post about Romance Books that I have not wrote about here.
