Day 2: Husband

I have been married to my husband, Shawn, for 18 years.  I met Shawn in 1994.  It was a blind date (the first and only one I went on).  We met in June 1994.  Set up by my friend, Sandy, and her boyfriend, Tim (she married him), who was friends with Shawn.  We went to this Carnival here that is put on by Firemen!!  It was not like I remembered.  I remember it being larger than what we saw it as.

In January, 1995, Shawn proposed to me.  We wanted to get married in June, 1997, but we were told by my mom and Shawn's mom that our grandmothers make not make it to then so we moved our wedding up to August, 1996.  Our grandmothers made it, too.  I just lost my in October, 2013 at the age of 100!!

It was a beautiful day for our wedding.  Sun was shining and no rain.  I wore a beautiful wedding gown that had roses in it.  My bridesmaids worse this gown that also had roses in it.  Three weeks after we were married, Sandy and Tim were married.  Our daughters were born 10 days apart.

Shawn and I have been through so much since we were married.  Our first born, Ashleigh, has a neurological disease, HSP, and she is losing her ability to walk.  Ashleigh was put into the Birth to 3 program when she was 2.  She had physical therapists, occupational therapists, and development therapists in our home until she went into their preschool program where she had all of the therapies there.  With Noah, we had several scares with his asthma, which is finally been under control for 2 years.  Ethan is a very talkative 5 year old and has been for a long time.  I think since he learned to talk.  He can talk about anything.

Shawn stood by my side when I hurt my back and then had to have surgery.  He had to help me bath myself because I could not do it.  During that time that I was recovering, Shawn took Noah to preschool every day until I was able to drive.  Last week Shawn took Ashleigh to her autism program because I was in so much pain.  I was fighting a kidney infection and muscle pain.  The muscle pain was from walking a walk a lon at my boys' school, but I did not do the entire walk.

We moved into our house 2 1/2 years ago.  Shawn joined the local volunteer fire department.  The kids love that their dad is a fireman!!

Shawn and I have learned that we have to work as a team.  We back each other up.  I love him more today than the day I married him.
