Day 16: Things we take for granted

I am blessed for everything I have.  I have learned since my back injury that I need to look at the positives and not live my life reflecting on the negatives.  I am sure we all looked at the negatives in our lives at one time or another, but to me, that all takes up too much energy thinking and worrying about all of those negatives.  If we live our lives positively, then we will have more energy to do the things we need to get done.  As a disabled mom to special needs kids, I need all of the energy I can get.

1. Ability to drive/A Running Car
I thought about what about the things some can't do.  We do not know if Ashleigh will be able to drive a car.  I love driving my van.  It is like freedom to me.  Think about a time where your vehicle is broken down and you have to relay on someone else to get you to and from somewhere.  It is not as free as it would be if you had a working vehicle.

2. Gross Motor Skills
I am going to combine Walking, Running, Jumping into Gross Motor Skills.  It took Ashleigh about 6-12 months to be able to walk like a child who was 2 when she was 3.

3. Physically Able to Do Things/Health
Not everyone can Carrying items, Baking for hours, Have a Job, or Can Sit without pain.  I miss being able to do everything I want to do.

4. Household Things/A Home
My family has been learning about this category a lot lately.  Working Furnace, Plumbing/Running Water, Working washer and dryer, A Bed to sleep in, A roof that is not leaking.  Not everyone has a home.

5. Communication
Having senses (to hear, to touch, to see, to taste, to feel) and the ability to speak.

6. One Another
Each other
Children
Friends
Family
Not everyone is around all the time.  We lose people important to us.

7. To be able to read and learn
Some people can not learn at the same speed as someone else.

8.Good Food
I miss food.  I miss not having to make everything.  I miss the easiness of quick meals.  I am still learning how to prepare Gluten Free meals.

9. Fresh air/Good weather
Some people live in foggy conditions, maybe rains a lot.  I am being to enjoy good weather.

10. Having a pet
I think realizing that the pet you have is awesome is something else.  I know Zeus and Bolt are awesome pets.  But, to me they are family.

I am learning to appreciate everything in my life and to teach my children to do the same.
