I am sick of the Transportation Dept at my kids' school. Two weeks ago this Tuesday, I filled out a paper to get Ethan's bus stop moved. The reason I put was that I could not be in 2 places at the same time, it's a safety issue, and Ethan is not old enough to walk on his own. He is only a First Grader. I did not allow Noah to walk home on his own until he was at least Third Grade. I explained that I have to help Ashleigh down our outside steps. She can not do this on her own. She loses her balance at times.
Ethan gets off his bus at the same time as Ashleigh. Ethan's bus stop is 2 blocks up 2 blocks over. Well, Ashleigh's in front of our house. We fought hard to get Ashleigh dropped off in front of our home and I was not going to move hers. She is losing her ability to walk (HSP).
The photo above is where the kids get their buses. H=Home where Ashleigh gets her bus. B= Bus stop for Ethan's. W=Want this bus stop.
Of course, the paperwork I did to move Ethan's stop was turn down. I was not pleasant with the woman I spoke to. One, they never called to tell me. Two, I told her exactly how I felt. I told her if my daughter got hurt, I will be going after them, that's it's a safety issue, that my Child Advocate will be dealing with this, which she is.

I am thinking its time to take photos and emailing them to the Director of Transportation. I took the photos I need. I really think this Director needs to see what I am dealing with.
If snow, ice comes, Ashleigh can fall down those outside steps. If there is an salt shortage like last winter, we had issues getting her down those steps. There is a crack on the curb on the street where all the rain/water, etc, comes down those steps, which will freeze.
If Ashleigh falls, how am I to get her up those steps? Outside or inside. I am disabled with chronic back pain. I have a 5 lbs weight limit.

Any thoughts?

Update 10/2: I emailed the Director of Transportation along with 3 photos. We will see what I hear from that email because my next step is the News Media!!
Update 10/4: Something happened after school and I called to speak with the Director, but of course she was not there. I told the secretary that I need to speak with her. I am thinking that I will show up on Monday morning. If I do not talk with her, I will go to the News Media.
Update 10/6: I went into the Transportation Department this morning. I gave her a compromise. It is a block down from where Ethan is getting his bus now. The Director said "I am not sure if the bus will fit on that street." I said "But, the bus is going down that street then up the alley due to Construction on the street where he gets off." She is sending it to the Contractor today. So, we will see what answer I get.
