Welcome to Day 30!
I have decided to do a Part 2 for the Struggles. Struggles Part 1 click HERE. I think it is too important just to have one day. The first struggle post was kinda long. Sorry about that, but today's post could be, too.
The other day when I was talking about the power struggle between Ashleigh and Noah, I did not get into it a lot. When this power struggle was at its worse, we were not in the wrap around program, but family based where the therapy is different. It is more intense. The 2 therapists are not only in the home, but also in the school observing the kids. It helped. In the last year, we got to this power struggle got worse once again. Now Noah is in the wrap around program and it is working. Ashleigh has been discharged from the wrap around program in June.
Ashleigh has struggles with the house itself. When Ashleigh is in her wheelchair full time, we need work done in this house. Like a ramp outside on the hillside. I can not carry her wheelchair down those outside steps. It is too heavy. I have chronic back pain and 5 lbs is my limit to lift. We need door frames enlarged: Ashleigh's bedroom, bathroom, Front door, living room, hallway, kitchen. We need a chair lift for the steps on the first to second floor. The bathroom is not handicap accessible. Some work needs to be done there. All that needs done. Now if we want Ashleigh on the other floors -basement, and 3rd floors, then we need more than 1 chair lift.
Ashleigh's rehab doctor told us that when Ashleigh is in her wheelchair more she thinks Ashleigh will not need it in the house yet. She will be able to walk in short distances. This is the reason we have decided to handle the house and Ashleigh getting worse in 3 phases. The first phases is getting the ramp, which we have no idea how to do it. The second phase will be chair lifts. The third phase is door frames enlarged and anything we need changed in the bathroom.
