Day 24: Responsibilities

Welcome to Day 24!!

Today the kids and I are taking a day of rest.  With Halloween coming up, there will be lots to do.  We recently added more channels to our cable.  The 400s.  I finally got the Hallmark Channel back.  =)  The Good Witch movies are on today so I am catching up.

About an hour ago, I had no clue what I wanted to write about today until Noah called up from the first floor to say he was making himself some chicken nuggets.  Then, I got my idea for today's post.  No, not about chicken nuggets, but about when us parents give their kids more responsibilities when it comes to the kitchen.

In the last year, I have been teaching Ashleigh and Noah how to cook.  Nothing major, but simple things.  Ashleigh loves tomato soup (I hate it).  We do have to watch Ash when she makes her soup.  Noah loves chicken noodle soup- either the can kind or the box kind.  I have taught him how to make that.  Both Ash & Noah loves mac n cheese.  I am in the room when they make that.

I want my kids to leave our home with the knowledge of the basics.  I want them to eat healthy.  I also want them to know how to do the laundry, which I have not started teaching just yet.  I think I will wait until Noah is a little older so I can teach both Ashleigh and Noah at the same time.

Have you thought about teaching your kids the same things in the kitchen?  Have you already started?  Is there something I am missing that I should teach them?
