Day 22: Driving

Welcome to Day 23!!

Today's post I am going to go in a different direction, but I think it is important.

When Noah is in the van with me, he does not allow me to be on my cell phone.  No matter if I am driving or just parked in a parking lot.  I do not text and drive.

Lately,  I am seeing way too many people doing stupid things behind the wheel.  Like putting on make-up.  Hello, do it before you leave.  Don't tell me you do not have the time to do that.  My reply is Get up earlier.  Your life and those on the road are more important than you getting your make-up on your face.

Too impatient.  Now this could be a lot of things.  But, I want to talk about one thing.  If the light is red, STOP and stay put until you get a GREEN light.  Why do I say this?  Because someone is going to go because it is THEIR GREEN light.  Example: Monday I was out doing errands.  I left this plaza where I was shopping and went out to the light near our Target.  I am so lucky I put my cell phone on its charger because a truck went through the red light.  I had the green arrow to turn.  That truck would have hit me in my driver's side door where I was.  Now is your time more important then my life?  No.

Shawn was going into work today and was almost rear ended.  Why?  Because the driver was changing her clothes when driving.  Now Shawn thinks the driver was taking her coat off.  Advice: Wait until you are at a light waiting for your green light.

I am sure we all saw those texting and driving.  Don't.  Wait until you are parked and your vehicle is off.  It is not worth it.

In my community last weekend, we lost a high school senior in a bad accident.  I do not know any details of the accident, but these accidents do happen.  It has me thinking about when Noah starts driving.  What will Noah do behind the wheel?  Shawn and I have to set an good example for Noah and Ethan (Ashleigh if she can drive).

Please take this pledge with us to set a good example behind the wheel.  Not just for yourself, your children, but those on the road with you.

Thanks for reading!
Melissa
