Today Ashleigh saw her Rehab doctor. We love her a lot. In the last year, we have been having issues with Ashleigh's school physical therapist. There have been times where her teacher keeps her in her room because of the physical therapist.
Thank God for Ashleigh's Rehab doctor. I called her sometime during the last school year to get a letter to her teacher and the school's physical therapist. It states that Ashleigh should not miss any classes because of feeling tired, etc. Well, a few weeks ago, it started once again. I called the Rehab doctor to get another letter sent to Ashleigh's teacher and physical therapist. But, this time I wanted it to say more. I wanted it to say "That Ashleigh's disability will not stop her from doing anything she needs to do at school." If we allow Ashleigh's disability to stop doing what she needs to do or what she loves, then what are we as parents teaching her? My disability does not stop me. I want Ashleigh to see that from me.
I can come up with 2 things that this physical therapist is doing. One she is pushing Ashleigh into her wheelchair. Two, she does not know anything about HSP. Once that happens, Ashleigh won't get out of the wheelchair. Ashleigh's rehab doctor also came to the same 2 things. The doctor wanted to call the PT, but I did not have the phone number with me, but I did have her email address so she is going to email the PT so she can get the phone number to call.
I have a few things to do in regards to the outside steps- to try to get a ramp, which I have to get help. We need to prepare for when it is time. I asked questions about how am I to get the wheelchair up and down those steps? We made sure I could get it into and out of the van, but never the outside steps.
I think today had the good, the bad, and the ugly in it. How was your day?
Melissa
